Verde’s investment in technology protects business
Verde, based in Warmley, design, build and maintain spaces for all levels of recreational and professional sport. Their use of the latest and most advanced turf available has gained them recognition as a service provider with professional sports bodies such as FIFA, World Rugby and FIH (The International Hockey Federation).
Their expert design process requires use of industry leading CAD (computer aided design) packages. In addition to this the business utilises Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive for archiving, Xero for accounting and specialist field operative management software to support them on project delivery.
With a heavy reliance on this wide range of solutions, good technology and connectivity is as important to Verde’s business as their project work carried out on location. Business manager, Jon Bland explains how their former location had been a hinderance to their day-to-day operations.
“Our main issue at our last premises was the speed of our internet connection. The majority of our systems relied on a connection to the internet to function. Our systems regularly stalled or crashed entirely creating a very frustrating working environment. We also used a traditional server system to connect our employees when working remotely and for shared data storage. This rarely worked properly and could not be relied upon to synchronise files across the business.”
Autumn 2019 saw a significant step forward for the business in solving these issues, with a move to a brand new, purpose-built office and warehouse facility.
“We worked in partnership with Grapevine to handle the IT and Telephony elements of the installation and move” Jon continued “They took the time to fully understand our specific requirements and helped us to identify new ways of working.
Grapevine provided the new building with a FTTP connection, back up FTTC connection and fail-safe 4G connection to the internet. This gave us a reliable and fast broadband connection which provided a foundation for the data systems we rely upon.
The team at Grapevine handled the setup and migration of our data onto a new SharePoint system which has revolutionised the way we work. We can now collaborate and share data when working remotely.”
With recent years presenting new challenges for all businesses, Jon reflects on how Verde’s investment in the evolution of their infrastructure has already proven to be invaluable.
“We have been able to work consistently throughout the COVID crisis. There is no doubt this would not have been possible if we had not moved over to the new system. We also moved over to VOIP for our telephony and this has again made our operations more professional and a lot smoother than ever before. The whole process, discovery, implementation, migration, on-site training and ongoing support has been fantastic throughout.”
