Technical Support Analyst (2nd Line)

Job types: Full-time, Permanent.

Location: Poole, Dorset.

Strarting salary: £30,000.00 – £32,000.00 per year, depending on experience.

Following the continued growth of our company, Grapevine is recruiting a Technical Support Analyst.

Grapevine is looking for a highly driven team member who is able to work independently but also collaborate with a growing team on a variety of technical disciplines. The ideal candidate will have a logical approach to troubleshooting issues, be able to communicate effectively to clients and colleagues, and adhere to a high standard of customer service. As a valued member of the Grapevine Helpdesk, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshooting and attempted resolution of Helpdesk incidents.
  • Configuration and upgrading of related hardware, software and services.
  • Hands-on support to users, as well as back-end troubleshooting of Microsoft 365, servers and networks. Front-end support includes Windows and MacOS endpoints, VOIP telephony and various applications.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and documentation of the infrastructure estates supported, such as site documentation and knowledge base article creation.
  • Active escalation point for all Line 1 engineers.
  • Receiving, logging and managing overflow calls from clients via telephone, email and automated systems.
  • Assist and work with the Helpdesk Manager to improve all aspects of the service delivery.
  • Escalate tickets to Line 3 engineers or third-party escalation, where required.
  • Site visits may be required.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • At least 2 years’ experience on an IT Helpdesk, utilising a PSA/ITSM/CRM support tool, like Autotask.
  • Remote access and monitoring tools, such as Datto RMM and TeamViewer.
  • Excellent communication skills and telephone manner.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Incident management experience.
  • Must have a full UK driving license.

Strong understanding of:

  • Windows and MacOS operating systems.
  • Server Roles and features, including:
    • Active Directory,
    • Group Policy,
    • DNS & DHCP.
  • Microsoft 365:
    • OneDrive,
    • SharePoint Online,
    • Exchange Online,
    • Teams,
    • Intune,
    • Entra ID,
    • Entra Connect,
    • Defender for Office 365,
    • Defender for Endpoint.
  • Azure IaaS and PaaS
  • Powershell
  • Enterprise backup solutions, like Acronis.
  • Enterprise anti-virus, such as BitDefender.
  • Hosted VoIP platforms.
    • Including hardware such as Poly, Yealink & Cisco
  • Business grade broadband.
    • Troubleshooting WLR 3 portal
    • Experience liaising with ISPs
    • Understanding of different connectivity options (FTTC, FTTP, leased line, SoGEA)
  • Public DNS
  • LAN-based networking:
    • Cloud managed switches, like Unifi or Meraki,
    • Wireless,
    • VPNs,
    • Routing

Desirable Skills:

  • Completed or working towards a level of Microsoft 365 accreditation
  • Employ ITIL best practise
  • Understanding of Watchguard or similar enterprise firewall products
  • Disaster recovery solutions
  • Mobile / MDM experience
  • Experience dealing with Gamma & Vodafone Fixed services
