Leaps project: Sport Relief Danceathon

Throughout 2020 Grapevine’s Leaps project is allowing each member of staff an extra day’s leave to volunteer for a charity of their choice. As part of this ongoing activity, Bath based account manager, Donna Fletcher recently supported a local fundraising drive for Sport Relief, the biennial charity event from Comic Relief, helping vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest countries.

The Danceathon event held at Chippenham Sports Club was led local exercise instructor, Sheila’s Fitness and Wellbeing and was successful in raising over ¬£1,000 for Sport Relief. On her Facebook page, Sheila thanked all involved, with a special thanks to Donna for her help in setting up the venue, organising posters, drinks and refreshments, as well as taking photos / videos and running the additional book and cake sale taking place during the day, allowing Sheila to focus on leading the Danceathon.

This event was the latest effort from Sheila’s Fitness and Wellbeing who have been fundraising for a range of¬†charities over the past year and have also donated over 400 items to Chippenham’s food bank. Sheila shared details of the encouragement for this event she received from the nearby St Peter’s Primary School in Chippenham.

“It was so lovely to receive hand written letters from the pupils, wishing us luck and telling us all what a great cause we were supporting. I know I will treasure the letter I received for a very long time”.
