Case Study: East Boro Housing Trust

East Boro Housing Trust are a long-established customer of ours. They’re a housing association founded in Wimborne in 1960, specialising in housing and support services for the elderly and adults with learning disabilities, as well as vulnerable people in the community. As a group they manage over 380 properties with 425 tenants and deliver care and support to over 600 customers.

Having been a mobile customer of ours for over a decade they were early adopters of the IT and fixed line telecom solutions we have introduced in recent years.

Cloud hosted phone system
Their cloud hosted phone system services 55 users, across 9 sites, covering Wimborne, Weymouth, Dorchester, Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch. For the first time they’ve been able to seamlessly transfer calls between each of those branches. The smaller offices are able to fall back on the main reception at their head office for taking calls when they’re unable to, ensuring no calls are missed.

In addition to this we also provide all of the analogue lines, call traffic and broadband connections for their sheltered housing projects, consisting of over 70 analogue lines across all of their housing projects.

Managed IT support
East Boro benefit from our full IT support service and hardware for over 60 users. We manage both their on-premise servers and network infrastructure, running Microsoft Exchange. We also provide cloud back up services and anti-virus protection from Bitdefender.

Tablets and interactive styluses
Through use of Samsung Note tablets, East Boro have moved further on their journey to become a paperless organisation. Their board of over 20 volunteers who meet on a monthly basis will often have an agenda document that can run to 70 pages of A4. The Samsung Note’s stylus enables the members of the board to make handwritten notes, add diagrams, highlight particular areas of text, and annotate digital notes whilst in the meeting, saving thousands of sheets of paper ever month.

Staff training
We arranged a training session where we supplied the tablets, set them up for the users, and ran a seminar to brief them on how the device works. At the end of the session everyone was at a stage where they were comfortable using the Samsung Note and they’ve been using them extensively since.

Mobile broadband
We also provide the connectivity for the volounteer’s tablets. The tablets are SIM enabled on a competitively priced Vodafone 4G Mobile Broadband tariff, giving them adequate data for the downloading of these sizeable attachments without having to fear exceeding a small allowance.
